The Na Phra Lan Pedestrian Tunnel was built to connect several historical sites on Rattanakosin Island, including the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew), Sanam Luang, and the City Pillar Shrine. It is a crucial new link for one of Bangkok's most significant tourist areas.

The tunnel is 6.6 meters deep and 96 meters long. It begins near the Mani Nopparat Gate of the Temple of the Emerald Buddha and leads to four separate exits.

Despite being a simple underground walkway, the tunnel's interior features stunning architectural design inspired by traditional Thai art. It is decorated with intricate stucco patterns reminiscent of the Grand Palace and features a statue of the mythical Naga king. This blend of modern infrastructure with cultural aesthetics transforms the space from a simple path into a new attraction that celebrates Thai heritage.

If you would like to visit the tunnel, you can start your walk at the 1905 Heritage Corner. The journey takes less than 15 minutes to reach the tunnel entrance on the Sanam Luang side of Na Phra Lan Road.
